Hanoi Rose is bringing the flavours of Hanoi’s Old Quarter to Brunswick. Situated on Sydney Road, the restaurant brings a much needed dose of Vietnamese food to the Brunswick locals. With exposed brick walls, polished concrete, large murals and indoor plants, Hanoi Rose ticks all the hipster boxes and serves up fresh food, inspired by the streets of Hanoi.

Restaurant manager and Brunswick local, Thu, is passionate about serving up authentic Northern Vietnamese food and mixes it up with a range of new and innovative dishes. Originally from Hanoi, she loves living in Brunswick and sharing her favourite foods with the local community. The menu caters for all dietary requirements and is filled with gluten free and vegan options. And there is a strict no MSG rule here. If you are craving a vegan pho or some gluten free spring rolls (a game changer I know!), then this is your place.

If you are craving Bún chả, a dish of grilled pork and noodle, this one will transport you right back to the streets of Hanoi. Holding true to the restaurant’s Hanoi heritage, the favors of char grilled pork belly are enhanced by a delicious sweet and sour broth and accompanied by fresh herbs, lettuce and a mountain of rice noodle. 

The menu also features delicious duck mains and takes a twist on the classic duck with plum sauce. Enter: Duck with orange sauce. Amazingly presented with Thai chili and green beans, the succulent duck is contrasted with a light crunch on the outside and a tangy orange sauce.

There are dessert options such as the sago, taro and coconut milk pudding (YUM) and deep friend banana spring rolls, which sound amazing. There is also a small but decent drinks menu with Vietnamese beers and Australian wines.

Hungry for a lunch time feed? There is also a very decently priced $12 lunch menu, featuring the most popular dishes on the menu. There is plenty of seating and the venue can also cater for large groups.
